About six months ago, I started listening to an up and coming artist named Russ. Flip on your car stereo and you know damn well the message today’s hip-hop artists send out is ignorant to the core. All they sing/rap about is the lean they’re sippin’, the bitches they’re fucking and the money they’re getting. This dude raps about what’s real, his life experiences, and a message that everyone needs to take home with them. The reality is that people settle for mediocre. People are “trapped in their minds.” People think that the only path available in life is the one society has paved. They don’t believe that there’s another way and they sure as fuck don’t believe in themselves.

Whatever dreams your chasing, you have to know without a doubt you’ll make it. How do you get others to believe in you, if you don’t even believe in yourself? Confidence is a state a mind; it’s a deep belief in yourself that you got this. You put in the work, you put in the time and there’s no doubt you’ll make it.

Persistance and Action

A lot of people talk about making shit happen. Few people rarely put in the work and get with the action. Even if you’re not entirely sure what you’re doing at first, shut your mouth and just fucking do it. The best way to learn is through experience and if you keep putting shit out there, build on platforms, connect with other like minded people, you learn real fast what works and what doesn’t. For some people it’s paralysis by analysis, fear of rejection or failure and for others they’re just plain lazy. Do your due diligence but make sure you take action, keep persisting and eventually you will succeed.

What is it you want? Figure it out, write that shit down. Visualize it. Dream about it and use it as fuel to keep you going. If someone else can do it, you can too. Everyone tells you, it can’t be done or it’s not likely but the truth is, you’re not everyone. Everybody gives up the second they fail, while you keep going.

The world needs more inspiration from artists like Russ. 9+ years in the game and he’s finally blowing up. If you haven’t checked out his music, peep here.
